Sushi

Post by Harm » Tue Jun 06, 2006 6:18 pm

I wondered, did any of you ever ate sushi (stupid question) and did you like it?

I tried sushi for the first time a couple of days ago. At the station while waiting for my next train *_*
Anyway, I was totally hooked. So today I bought all the sushi stuff I could find to make sushi ^_^. To bad they were out of nori, so I have to wait until tomorrow.

But what do you think? Maybe some tips or recepies?

Sushi is awesome! Good luck tryin to make your own though.

Thing with sushi, a lot of people will say they dont like it because their first impression was bad (probably due to eating some weird ass roll or eating at some cheap ass place)

But yeah, big fan. I could eat Tuna rolls all day

It's kind of hard to just nibble a piece of sushi ^^;. If you want to play it safe, best thing to start out on is either Kappa Maki ( cucumber roll ), California Roll ( crab, avacado, & cucumber ), or Ebi ( boiled shrimp on a bed of white rice ). Just soak a side of the sushi in some good soy sauce or ginger sauce, and pop the whole thing in your mouth. Sushi isn't a nibbling food ^_^;.

I personally LOVE dragon rolls, Caribbean rolls, kappa maki, San Fransisco roll, spider roll, spring roll, tempura roll ( Sweet Potato, Carrot, Green Bean, Squash ), Shiro Maguro ( Albacore Tuna ), Avocado & Crab, ebi, Kani Karaage ( Baby Soft Shell Crab ), maguro, Tamago ( Sweetened Egg Omelet), Unagi ( Grilled Fresh Water Eel ), and too many more. There is some stuff I won't touch, but for the most part, it's all good.

Guh... makes me wish next Wednesday night would hurry up and get here already! My friend Pip and I are going to Minado's with a couple of my friends for a pig out sushi night before going to AnimeNEXT the next day! ^W^

Great, now I'm hungry...

yes, when it comes to food it certainly is!
(I don't have a need to try out new stuff, I still like all the things I liked to eat when I was young.)
but it's true i have difficulties with accepting new stuff in my life, my parents just painted the walls of the living room pink, that's gonna take a lot of getting used to!

California rolls are the ones with avocado, aren't they? California rolls are just wannabe sushi. x:

sushi is anything with sushi rice. so if you see a mushroom placed on a little ball of sushi rice it would be considered sushi XD

if you like rolls maybe try spicy scallop, tempura, or soft shell crab rolls
I don't know how to make them though, but dad is a sushi chef

So I made sushi yesterday.

Cooking of the rice went very well, nice and sticky. (and my dog really liked it ^_^)
And making the rolls went wel too. Exept that the filling wasn't in the middle of the sushi.

The only downside was that my mother had to cook too. So there was a certain ammount of time between the prepairing of the ingreedients and putting them into the sushi. Resulting in the revolting smell of wasted fish. I hate high tempatures >_<

But the ones with cucumber and surimi were nice. And, I made enough for three days! Well, it's good for my sushi rolling skillzzzzz ^_~
